Planning to Retire

For some employees, retirement is still years away; for others, it is right around the corner. No matter where you currently fall in your career, there are still a number of steps you must take to ensure smooth administration of your retirement benefit.

PMRS strongly encourages you to contact us at least 6 months to a year before you plan to retire to request a retirement estimate. When you do, you will receive important details on how to apply for retirement and learn about the options related to your specific circumstances.
When you apply to retire, a retirement application must be completed and sent to PMRS, and you will choose one of the following:

Application for Retirement Benefits (PMRB-8)
Application for Retirement Benefits for Plans with Automatic Spouse’s Death Benefits (PMRB-50)

Completed forms can be sent to Ra-rscompletedforms@pa.gov.
